LG Chem said Tuesday it has supplied metal-replaceable plastic to Mitsubishi for the Japanese carmaker’s three SUV models – the Outlander, Delica D:5 (pictured) and RVR. Using the lighter material, the company said, the plastic fender is about 4 kilograms lighter than the previous metal alternative of the same size, improving the fuel efficiency of the vehicles.

South Korea had its worst air quality this winter on Saturday, with fine dust and yellow dust covering most of the country. The weather authorities issued an ultrafine dust advisory for all regions except for the southernmost island of Jeju. The daily average concentration of ultrafine dust particles was measured at 86 micrograms per cubic meter, far exceeding 2021’s yearly average of 18.

South Korean oil refiner S-Oil on Thursday awarded a total of 90 million won ($71,000) to eight Coast Guard officers for their lifesaving efforts over this year. According to the company, Assistant Inspector Lim Sung-rock was honored with the best hero award for rescuing three fishermen who were isolated in waters off the coast of Ulsan in January. S-Oil has awarded Coast Guard officers each year for their heroics since 2013.
