Kwon Oh-hyun, chief executive officer and vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, said Tuesday that the Galaxy Note 7 debacle has given the company a chance to reflect on its corporate structure.

In a speech delivered at an event held to celebrate Samsung Electronics’ 47th anniversary, the CEO also urged for more internal monitoring in order to improve its crisis management operations.

”The global economy, faced with growing uncertainty and low growth, shows no sign of improving and Samsung Electronics is exposed to diverse and complicated risks that the company has never experienced before,“ he said.

”The recent crisis has offered us an opportunity to reflect on whether we were complacent in thinking and working, and to start anew.“

The CEO‘s speech was meant to urge executives to make systematic changes on Samsung’s traditional way of doing business, and managing the organization, the company said in a statement.
