Samsung Everland is setting out to help rehabilitate the homes of low-income families, featuring its strength in eco-friendly, energy-saving technology.

The company on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Habitat for Humanity Korea to jointly help reconstruct old houses of poor families, as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, officials said.

In the signing ceremony, held at the company headquarters in central Seoul, CEO Kim Bong-yung delivered a 300 million won ($280,000) donation to HHK chairman Chung Kun-mo.

The Ever House project, which is to kick off in April, does not just involve rebuilding houses but also incorporating eco-friendly and energy-saving features such as solar energy systems.

Also, the expertise of building designers and the work of the company’s employees will be utilized during the process, officials said.

“Together with Habitat for Humanity, we will be active in making the residential environment better for low-income households,” said CEO Kim.

“Our employees will be encouraged to volunteer and participate in much of the renovation work.
