Veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki is starring in a movie with Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman and English actor Clive Owen, according to Sovik Global Contents Investment Fund.

Ahn is starring in a joint Korean-American production film “The Last Knights.” Popular actress Park Si-yeon, who recently starred in KBS’ TV drama series “The Innocent Man,” is also joining the cast.

The script has been penned by Canadian screenwriter Michael Konyves, whose previous works include the Genie Award-nominated screenplay for the 2010 film “Barney’s Version.”

The period-adventure drama is said to be about a group of warriors who plan to avenge their master’s murder. Japanese filmmaker Kazuaki Kiriya is directing the piece.

The film is the first Korean-American joint production project by Sovik Global Contents Investment Fund.

The $100 million fund was founded last year by Korea’s Culture Ministry, CJ E&M, Lotte Entertainment, Sovik Venture Capital and U.S. development, finance and production company Route One Films, to invest in the production of Korean cultural content and distribute it overseas.

Ahn, who made his film debut in 1957, is one of the most prominent film figures in Korea’s entertainment industry. His recent works include last year’s court drama “Unbowed’ and 2011 monster flick “Sector 7.” He also currently serves as the director of Korea’s Asiana International Short Film Festival.

Actress Park, on the other hand, made her acting debut in SBS drama series “My Girl” in 2005. Born in Busan, the 33-year-old attended high school and college in the U.S.; she studied journalism at Long Island University in New York.

Morgan Freeman, whose well-known works include “Street Smart” and “The Shawshank Redemption,” won the Academy Award for his performance in “Million Dollar Baby” in 2005.

Meanwhile, Clive Owen won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for his performance as the British dermatologist in the popular 2004 drama “Closer.”

According the investment group, the crew of the film started filming in Prague, the Czech Republic, on Nov. 5.

The film is scheduled to be released in the U.S. in the winter of 2013.
