The lower-half of a man’s body was found on Daebudo Island, Ansan, on Sunday, and a police investigation is ongoing to locate the missing half. According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency, more than 900 policemen are currently combing through the area with two drones. The Pyeongtaek Marine Police is also participating in the search with 26 members.

The police said, “The drainage where the severed body was found leads to the sea. We presume the body could have been deserted where human search may be difficult.”

The naked lower half of the male body was found wrapped in a blanket in a sewer near an industrial embankment by a tourist.

The body was minimally decomposed, leading the police to assume it had not been long since it was deserted.

There were no particular scars or marks that could help identify the victim. The National Forensic Service will run a DNA test to see if it matches with people reported missing.

The police said they will be able to estimate the man’s age and height based on the NFS test results. They will then distribute fliers asking for reports or leads.
