Korea’s leading refinery S-Oil said Monday it will support the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics as a sponsor to successfully hold the world sports festival.

S-Oil CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher and president Cho Yang-ho of the organizing committee for the Winter Olympic Games signed a sponsorship agreement. The refinery will provide oil products as needed for operating vehicles to transport athletes and committee members during the games.

“We decided to sponsor the event in order to lend support, though small, to such a big national event as a responsible member of society,” CEO Al-Mahasher said.

In 2014, S-Oil donated 150 million won ($130,553) to national athletes in short track and speed skating to support the growth of winter sports in Korea.

The Winter Olympics will take place from Feb. 9-25, 2018 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province.
