Samsung Electronics is most likely to showcase its new wireless gadget Galaxy Note 2 at an event prior to the IFA electronics trade show in Berlin later in August.

According to industry sources, the world’s top smartphone maker is expected to hold its “Mobile Unpack” event with its mobile chief Shin Jong-kyun present at its press event on Aug. 30. IFA runs from Aug. 31-Sept. 5.

The company has yet to release its final showcase date of the gadget which is categorized to be between a smartphone and a tablet PC, but its official said the date has been finalized and will be announced soon.

Galaxy Note is the firm’s first 5.3-inch display smartphone which was recognized for its note-taking feature, carrying the S pen within the device. The gadget also has a larger display compared to other smartphones and runs on the upgraded fourth-generation Long Term Evolution networks.

The follow-up model, which is dubbed Galaxy Note 2, is reportedly equipped with a larger 5.5-inch display and will be running on Google’s latest Jelly Bean mobile operating system.

Other local media reports also said that the new Galaxy Note 2, which comes with a quad core processor, has strengthened its memo-taking function and its users will be able to easily edit their documents and files as well as share them with other wireless gadgets.

Being offered in two different models ― 3G and LTE ― the model operating on the 3G networks is scheduled to first be launched in Europe as early as September and the LTE model will rush into Korea later that month.

“Mobile Unpack” is Samsung’s event to show off its new products, which have included the Galaxy S smartphone, Galaxy Tab series and its smartphone Wave, powered by its proprietary platform, over the past.

Most recently, the firm lifted the curtains on its Galaxy Note at its previous event at IFA last year as well as its flagship tablet PC Galaxy Tab at another one in 2010.
