South Korea's restaurant reservation platform CatchTable, operated by Wad Co., has exceeded 15 million cumulative users, and the number of registered restaurants on the platform surpassed 30,000 as of Sept. 3, the company said Thursday.
CatchTable launched in 2016 as a business-to-business restaurant management solution before introducing its consumer-facing service in 2020. Since then, it has expanded its services to include restaurant searches, deposit-free reservations, remote waitlisting and payments through its own simple payment service, "CatchPay."
The platform has seen growth across different price brackets and restaurant categories. Reservations were made for dishes ranging from under 20,000 won to more than 200,000 won ($15-$150) per person, across 14 dining categories including Korean, Western, Japanese, Chinese and course dining.
CatchTable's real-time waiting service has also grown since its introduction in June 2023, with its usage increasing 2.1-fold. Korean restaurants accounted for the largest share of waiting service at 22.1 percent, followed by Japanese cuisine at 20.5 percent and barbecue restaurants at 14.9 percent.
On average, a user made 2.35 reservations through CatchTable since the platform launched, with Western food at 21.4 percent, followed by omakase, course dining, and contemporary restaurants at 17.9 percent.
CatchTable has also seen an increase in returns. The rate of customers returning to a restaurant they had visited using CatchTable was 2.4 times higher in August than in January 2022.
"15 million cumulative users were driven by a steady growth in users seeking restaurants of various price ranges and cuisines," the company's official said. "We hope to expand our services, including reservations and waiting lists, to make the dining experience more convenient for customers."
