Roughly 80 percent of global Netflix subscribers have viewed Korean shows or movies, according to figures released by the streaming platform on Friday.

The data was unveiled to mark the 10th anniversary of Netflix's service launch in Korea.

According to the platform, more than 200 Korean productions have made it into its global Top 10 charts since the company began publishing the rankings on its official ranking platform, Tudum, in 2021.

Netflix added that between its 2016 launch in Korea and 2025, it partnered with over 80 production companies to produce or co-produce more than 200 Korean titles.

These projects engaged over 25,000 cast and crew members, alongside more than 70,000 background actors and daily hires, with filming spanning over 100 cities and towns across the country.

The company also underscored its commitment to cultivating fresh talent, noting that first-time writers or directors spearheaded over a third of its Korean original titles released in the last three years.

Alongside its findings, Netflix on Friday launched a commemorative website titled "Netflix and Korea: 10 Years," documenting its decade of operations in the country.

The portal showcases the streaming giant's work across four key pillars: content, production, localization, and what the streamer calls the "Netflix effect" — the economic, cultural, and social influence its titles have on local economies and viewer habits.

The website features interviews with Korean creators, industry leaders, production case studies, and behind-the-scenes photography.

In the meantime, Netflix currently leads the Korean streaming landscape in active readership and viewership.

Mobile analytics platform Mobile Index reported that Netflix garnered 15.51 million monthly active users in September. Homegrown platform Tving followed in second place with 10 million users, while Coupang Play placed third with 9.2 million.

Monthly active users represents the count of individuals who log into or engage with a service or app at least once over any given 30-day window.
