TWS, the much-anticipated boy group from Pledis Entertainment, made its debut Monday with the release of its first EP, “Sparkling Blue.”

TWS is the first K-pop boy group to debut in nine years under Pledis Entertainment, the agency that houses K-pop sensation Seventeen.

“We’ve worked hard to accomplish this dream of debuting as a K-pop act. We will continue to do our best to shine even brighter,” said member Dohoon during a press conference in Seoul on Monday.

“We want to show people what we are aiming for through our music. We hope to present a performance that makes the audience happy,” said member Shinyu.

TWS is promoting its debut album, which carries five singles with the lead track “Plot Twist” and a sidetrack, “Oh Mymy: 7s.”

“The lead track describes the anxiety that arises when meeting someone for the first time. We wanted to talk about how not everything goes as planned but that we can work on overcoming hardships by thinking about the days we can be all together, with our fans,” explained Youngjae of TWS.

The music video for “Plot Twist” shows the group going to a new school and trying to make friends on the first day.

The choreography of the lead track involves a broad use of space and a lot of jumping moves that go well with the bright and energetic mood of the song.

“We hope to present music that anyone can easily tune into anywhere, anytime. We want to spread positive energy with songs that have lots of catchy components,” said Kyungmin.

The name of the group stands for “Twenty-Four Seven With Us,” which means that the group hopes it can be a close friend to its fans and the public, and make every day special.

TWS consists of six members -- Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon and Kyungmin.

The final members were chosen through extensive training and a final evaluation.

“When we heard that we made it through the final evaluation, we were crying with joy. We promised ourselves that we would work hard to become a group of which we can be proud,” said Kyungmin.

“We performed our track ‘Oh Mymy: 7s’ in front of the chairman of Hybe, Bang Si-hyuk. He said that he could tell we’ve practiced a lot and that he looks forward to our debut,” said Dohoon.

TWS says their role model is Seventeen, a K-pop group that consists of talented artists who often produce their own music.

“We hope to follow their lead so we are putting a lot of effort into enhancing our musical capabilities,” said Kyungmin.

"This is just the beginning. Please look forward to our future endeavors," said Shinyu.
