State broadcaster KBS said Tuesday it will air a marathon of three "Descendants of the Sun" episodes on election day this week.

Episodes 12 to 14 of the KBS 2TV series will air from 3:05 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, which is when the country's 20th general elections will be held.

The 15th episode will be broadcast at 10 p.m. as scheduled, with the movie "Werewolf Boy," starring actor Song Joong-ki, to follow at 11:10 p.m.

The military romance drama starring Song and actress Song Hye-kyo is the only terrestrial drama to be shown as scheduled on election day. MBC's "Goodbye, Mr. Black" and SBS' "Please Come Back, Mister," which air in the same time slot, are cancelled for Wednesday and will resume the following day.

"Descendants of the Sun" topped 30 percent in nationwide viewership in South Korea on the ninth episode. It remains to be seen whether it will surpass the 40-percent mark for the first time as a weeknight drama in four years. (Yonhap)
