Film actor Ahn Sung-ki will be honored with a museum dedicated to his illustrious 50-plus years in the movie industry.
The Ahn Sung-ki Movie Museum is expected to open sometime in 2014 in Gangwon Province and will display various film memorabilia, props, costumes, trophies and awards from the former child actor, who has since appeared in nearly 100 movies.
Ahn, 60, the son of a producer, made his debut in the entertainment industry at the young age of 5 in the film “Twilight Train” in 1957.
As a child, the actor was best highlighted in his role in the 1960 Kim Ki-young drama “The Housemaid,” where he played the son of a composer who was involved in a scandalous affair with the family’s maid.
On June 23, Ahn, along with actor Lee Byung-hun, became the first Korean actors to imprint their hand and footprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Ahn is still active as an actor, starring in the yet-to-be-released film “Seonbi.” He was also recently awarded with the Best Actor award at the 2012 Baeksang Arts Awards for his role in the film “Unbowed,” inspired by the true story of a professor who allegedly used a crossbow to shoot a judge.
