Police arrested two Morrocans (aged 30 and 44) on Thursday for stealing smartphones in clubs in and around Hongdae, and continued their search for the whereabouts of a third accomplice.
The phone thieves had arrived in Korea in March 20 with the intention of stealing phones, and had begun taking them from the pockets of unsuspecting club-goers while they danced and drank, the police said.
The trio had also gotten away with stealing phones from passersby by asking to borrow them.

경찰에 따르면 A씨 등은 지난 3월 20일 절도를 목적으로 국내에 입국해 지난달 20일부터 일주일간 서울 이태원과 홍대 인근 외국인 전용 술집과 클럽 등에서 스마트폰을 상습적으로 훔친 혐의를 받고 있다.
이들은 지난 27일 새벽 서울 홍대 모 클럽에서 춤을 추고 있던 D(32ㆍ여)씨에게 접근해 D씨의 겉옷 주머니에 들어있던 스마트폰을 훔쳐 달아났다.
이들은 또 지난 30일 새벽 1시께 서울 홍대 인근 거리에서 만난 E(34)씨에게 스마트폰을 빌려달라며 접근한 후 건네 받은 스마트폰을 들고 달아났다. 경찰은 이들이 이러한 수법으로 스마트폰 4대, 노트북 1대 등 시가 450만원 상당을 훔쳐 달아난 것으로 파악하고 있다.
