Asiana Airlines announced Tuesday that it had adopted the mobile payment service KakaoPay to allow customers to buy airline tickets.

Anyone with the KakaoTalk mobile app can use KakaoPay without installing additional features, company officials said.

Customers who wish to purchase airline tickets using the mobile app or the Web can now do so more conveniently by simply typing in a password that they set up through KakaoPay.

Asiana Airlines added that as a promotional event for implementing KakaoPay, they will provide an additional 5-7 percent discount on top of their online discount prices for two weeks (Aug. 18-31) for customers who use KakaoPay to purchase Asiana airline tickets going to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila and Los Angeles, as well as several domestic flights going to Jeju island.

Additionally, Asiana will provide benefits, such as an extra 500 mileage points for using KakaoPay after newly signing up with Asiana Airlines, and gifts including round-trip domestic airline tickets for select customers using KakaoPay through a lottery system.
