The South Korean office of the United Nations Development Program said Wednesday it plans to hold an international forum on anti-corruption in Seoul this week to find ways to fight the worldwide issue.

The forum, slated for Thursday and Friday, will bring together officials from the government and international organizations as well as civilian experts from more than 10 countries, according to the UNDP Seoul Policy Center.

The participants are expected to exchange opinions over how to eradicate corruption and promote cooperation based on examples from South Korea and other developing countries, it said.

"Fighting corruption is a critical part of strengthening accountability, rule of law and ensuring effective and efficient use of financial resources for development," it said in a statement.

The UNDP Seoul Policy Center brokers partnerships with South Korea and other developing countries through the U.N. agency's networks.
