▶정기룡 부산광역시 부시장, ”제2 센텀시티 IoT혁명 일으 킬 것“
부산시가 제2 센텀시티 조성에 본격적으로 나선다.
정기룡 부산광역시 부시장은 16일 (현지시각) 미국 시카고에서 열린 IoT월드포럼에서 첨단 통신 기술을 결합한 산업단지를 부산시 사상구에 조성할 것 이라고 밝혔다.
IoT월드포럼의 패널 토론에 참가한 정 부시장은 “부산시는 사상구에 위치한 오래된 산업단지를 제2의 센텀시티로 탈바꿈 할 계획,” 이라고 밝히며, “ICT, 자동차, 조선 사업이 융합되는 곳으로 만들 것”이라고 말했다.
IoT월드포럼은 글로벌 IT 기업인 시스코가 작년부터 개최한 회의이며 세계 유수 기업의 관계자와 미디어가 참여해 IoT, 스마트 시티 등의 주제에 대해 논의 하는 자리이다.
정 부시장은 제2 센텀시티가 첨단 기술과 융합하면서 “IoT혁명을 일으킬 것”이라고 말하며 산업단지 조성에 대한 큰 기대를 거는 모습을 보였다.
그는 또한 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)와 한국생산기술연구원 등 연구 기관이 제2 센텀시티에 입주하게 될 것이라고 밝혔다.
제2 센텀시티 조성 사업은 부산시가 계획하고 있는 주요 핵심 사업으로, 서병수 부산시장의 후보시절 주요 공략 중의 하나였다.
최근 발표된 부산시의 계획에 따르면 사업 초기 단계인 2020년까지 총 4400억원의 자금을 투입해 노후 공업지역을 리모델링 할 예정이다. 현재 자치구에서 주민동의안을 받고 있는 중이며, 정 부시장은 “부산시와 민간 사업자들이 잘 협력 한다면 사업 속도는 더 빨라 질 것”이라고 말했다.

Busan to build second Centum City
Industrial district will embrace Internet of Things
CHICAGO — Busan is preparing to build the so-called second Centum City, a high-end industrial park equipped with smart technology.
Centum City is an upscale multipurpose business and shopping district in the port city, featuring around 1,400 companies, including those in the IT sector, and the world’s biggest department store Shinsegae.
“We are going to renovate the old industrial complex (in Sasang district, west Busan) into the second Centum City, where we will promote convergence between information and communications technology, automobile and shipbuilding industries,” Busan Vice Mayor Jung Gi-ryong said Wednesday at a panel discussion of the Internet of Things World Forum in Chicago.
The IoTWF, held from Tuesday to Thursday in the Windy City, is an annual conference where officials from global governments and private firms gather together to discuss a variety of subjects related to IoT technology, such as deployment and security of technology.
Instead of demolishing the old and derelict factories of the district, which he called an outdated development method, the city will remodel the existing buildings and construct some new apartment-type factories equipped with high-end IoT technology.
“With large shipbuilders and carmakers doing business in the city, including Renault Samsung Motors and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, the new industrial complex will create a synergy effect,” he said.
More than 440 billion won ($414 million) will be first poured into the second Centum City project by 2020.
The complex is expected to be equipped with cutting-edge IoT technology such as smart transportation and a smart grid.
“The complex is going to be an IoT revolution and give us ample opportunity to take the industrial leadership that we enjoyed in the past,” he said.
He also put emphasis on collaboration between the municipal government and the private sector to accelerate the pace of the project.
