아시아나, 사고수습팀 오후 샌프란시스코로 파견

아시아나항공은 7일 오전(한국시각) 미 국 샌프란시스코공항 여객기 충돌 사고와 관련, 이날 오후 4시 30분 사고수습팀을 현지에 보낸다고 밝혔다.

아시아나항공 관계자는 이어 “사상자를 확인 중”이라면서 “중상자는 구급차로 병원에 실려갔고 경상자는 우리가 파악해서 병원에 보내고 있다”고 말했다.

사고 항공기에는 한국인 77명 등 승객 291명이 탔고 이정민 기장을 포함한 승무 원은 한국인 12명, 태국인 4명 등 16명이다. (연합뉴스)

Asiana officials due in San Francisco to deal with jet crash



Asiana Airlines Inc., South Korea‘s No. 2 flag carrier, said Sunday that it will dispatch a group of personnel to handle the aftermath of a crash landing of its passenger jet in the United States.

An Asiana Airlines flight from Seoul crashed and caught fire while landing at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, reportedly killing at least two people and injuring dozens of others.

The Boeing 777 plane, which departed from Incheon International Airport west of Seoul, was carrying 291 passengers and 16 crew members, according to the airline.

Seventy-seven South Koreans, 141 Chinese and 61 Americans were on board with the nationality of the remainder not confirmed yet.

South Korea’s transportation ministry also said its investigation team will head to the U.S. later in the day to work with its U.S. counterpart.

The U.S.‘s National Transportation Safety Board team, Seoul’s transportation ministry, Asiana Airlines and Boeing are expected to conduct a joint investigation into the crash landing, ministry officials said. (Yonhap News)
