Moon, a former human rights lawyer and ex-chief of staff to the late President Roh Moo-hyun, won 49,585 votes cast, or 62.84 percent, in Saturday's primary in Gyeonggi Province for the Democratic United Party (DUP).

    The DUP is scheduled to hold its last regional primary in Seoul on Sunday. If Moon still maintains his majority lead after the Seoul primary, he will be formally declared the party's presidential nominee.

   South Korea is set to hold a presidential election on Dec. 19. The ruling Saenuri Party already nominated Rep. Park Geun-hye as its candidate last month.

문재인, 민주 경선 12연승..누적 과반 유지

민주통합당 문재인 대선 경선 후보는 15일 경기 경선에서도 압승하며 12전 전승을 기록했다.

문 후보는 13곳에서의 전국 순회 일정 가운데 16일 서울 경선만 남겨둔 가운데 누적 득표율 과반을 유지하며 결선 투표 없이 대선 후보가 될 가능성을 높였다.

문 후보는 이날 고양 실내체육관에서 열린 경기 순회 경선에서 유효투표수 7만8천904표 중 4만9천585표(62.84%)를 얻어 1위에 올랐다.

손학규 후보는 1만8천477표(23.42%), 김두관 후보는 6천978표(8.84%)를 획득했으며, 정세균 후보는 3천864표(4.90%)를 얻는데 그쳤다.

누적 득표율에서도 문 후보는 53.50%(18만8천912표)로 지난 9일 10차 경선지인 세종ㆍ대전ㆍ충남 경선에서 과반을 회복한 뒤 상승세를 이어갔다.

손 후보와 김 후보의 누적 득표율은 각각 23.20%(8만1천910표), 16.31%(5만7천581표)였다. 정 후보는 7.0%(2만4천705표)를 기록하는데 그쳤다. (연합뉴스)
