Cookman, the Korea-based maker and distributor of the world’s first infrared-ray electric roasting pan, released its two new products “Cookman Premium S-II” and “Cookman New Silver S-II” this month.

The two new products are equipped with some upgraded functions including a three-level control on fire intensity in which the user can adjust the heat level for personal taste. It also emits less smell or smoke while cooking than normal pans, ensuring both flavor and health, according to a company report.

Previous research has shown that carcinogen ― a noxious substance that causes cancer ― is given off while the meat burns. According to a 2007 study by the American Association for Cancer Research, once meat or fish is cooked at 400 degrees Celsius or higher, carcinogenic substances such as heterocyclic amines and cyclic hydrocarbons may occur, increasing the risk for cancer.

Cookman has invented products eliminating such problems. Using the combination of an infrared-ray lamp and hardwood charcoal, the roasting pan prevents meat from burning, said a company official.

The company currently exports its products to about 30 countries including the United States and Australia. It is receiving positive feedback from Korean and Japanese restaurants abroad.
