LG Electronics chief executive Koo Bon-joon stressed the importance of communication, encouraging junior employees to speak up to management to improve performance, its officials said Friday.

In a meeting with a group of junior workers called the “Junior Board,” the vice chairman asked them to play the role of delivering the thoughts of LG Electronics’ junior workers, according to LG officials.

“The management will then collect the voices of the employees and reflect them when making their decisions on business operations,” said Koo. “Please become the communication channel between the two groups so that the company could become the top player,” he said.

He also said the junior group, along with other employees, must take part in this year’s core projects to secure product leadership, practice differentiated and market-specific business tactics and revolutionize the organization and its culture.

The junior board, a developed form of a group called the “fresh board” in 1991, is composed of about 300 employees below manager level, who do administrative work at LG.

Since being renamed “digital board” in 2003, the group, which also takes the lead in corporate social responsibility through volunteer activities, came up with its new name last year.
