KT Corp. resumed the Internet services for Samsung-made smart televisions Tuesday after the two companies agreed to settle their differences through negotiations, according to the nation’s telecom regulator.

KT had limited the Internet access of Samsung smart TV sets since Thursday morning in protest against Samsung Electronics’ refusal to join talks for the costs of its network use.

The Korea Communications Commission said that Samsung also withdrew the lawsuit the company filed against KT on Friday as part of the agreement.

About possible punitive measures against KT, KCC officials said no final decision had been made.

“The two companies shared the understanding that the smart TV industry is a future growth engine and the telecommunications network is essential for the growth overall,” said a KCC official.

“Following the agreement, the two companies will participate in a consultancy group based on the KCC’s guidelines for network neutrality. Specific operations will be decided through their negotiations.”
