South Korean parents are having their first child about two years later than they did a decade ago, reflecting a continued trend toward later marriage and childbirth, data showed.
한국에서 첫 아이를 낳는 부모의 연령이 10년 전보다 약 2년 늦어진 것으로 나타났다. 만혼과 출산 연령 상승 추세가 이어지고 있는 데 따른 것으로 풀이된다.
In 2025, first-time fathers were 35.4 years old on average, while first-time mothers were 33.2, up from 33.7 and 31.2, respectively, in 2015.
2025년 첫째 아이를 낳은 아버지의 평균 연령은 35.4세, 어머니는 33.2세로, 2015년의 각각 33.7세와 31.2세보다 높아졌다.
The number of births rose 6.7 percent year on year to 254,300, the highest since 2021. Firstborn children accounted for 62.4 percent of all births.
출생아 수는 전년 대비 6.7% 증가한 25만4,300명으로, 2021년 이후 가장 많았다. 첫째 아이가 전체 출생아에서 차지하는 비중은 62.4%였다.
The total fertility rate, or the average number of children a woman is expected to have over her lifetime, rose for a second consecutive year to 0.80, returning to the 0.8 range for the first time since 2021.
여성이 평생 낳을 것으로 예상되는 평균 자녀 수를 의미하는 합계출산율은 2년 연속 상승해 0.80을 기록했다. 합계출산율이 0.8명대에 진입한 것은 2021년 이후 처음이다.
The fertility rate among women aged 35-39 reached a record 52.1 births per 1,000 women, but rates for younger age groups continued to decline.
35~39세 여성의 출산율은 여성 1천명당 52.1명으로 역대 최고치를 기록했다. 반면 더 젊은 연령대의 출산율은 계속 하락했다.
