The government has toughened the punishment of civil servants for hidden camera crimes and other sexual offenses, officials said Tuesday.

The Ministry of Personnel Management said it has revised the decree on disciplinary action against public officials and its enforcement regulation in a way that calls for suspension or heavier disciplinary action against officials involved in such sexual crimes.

The revision also calls for punishing supervisors of offenders if they knowingly overlooked those crimes.

Officials said heavy punishment will be given regardless of the seriousness of those crimes.
