Big data start-up Twinword announced Tuesday that it would unveil its key word research platform “Twinword SEO” next month. Key word research is a marketing technique that uses big data to identify and analyze words associated with a particular search term. The objective is to find the best words to use in the introduction of a product or company in order to achieve the highest rankings possible on Internet search engines.

Twinword is a venture company that collects, analyzes and utilizes big data based on natural language. It creates word databases so computers can understand the words people use in daily conversation and process related tasks. The company develops software as well. In essence, it uses language to create business.

Through its development of the platform, the company hopes to achieve two major goals: the collection of natural language data and the development of a platform for commercial use. The task of collecting natural language data will be carried out through “Twinword Mind,” a personality test developed in collaboration with professor Chun Woo-young of Chungnam National University’s Department of Psychology.

Compared to the MBTI test, a frequently used personality test that, due to its dependence on “Yes” or “No” answers, leaves considerable room for error depending on thought processes and tendencies of test takers, Twinword’s personality test is more objective. It is composed in such a way that makes it difficult for the test taker to guess the real purpose of the question. For example, it utilizes questions such as “Do you prefer peanuts or cheese?” to infer personality tendencies.

A key word research platform is a marketing tool that analyzes connections between words that appear in the results of countless personality tests and turns this information into data to be used for key word research.

CEO Kono Kim said, “All of the tools are in English, and our entire staff is made up of foreign nationals, including Americans, Russians and Singaporeans.”

Kim added, “With the support of the Born2Global Center, we are now preparing to debut overseas.” (jshwang@heraldcorp.com)
