The music of legendary rock band the Beatles will be available on streaming music services in Korea from Feb. 29, Universal Music Korea announced Monday.

The label said that 307 tracks from the group’s 17 albums will be made available on 10 Korean online and mobile music streaming services, including MelOn, Naver Music, Ginie, Bugs, Mnet, Soribada and Kakao Music.

The original 13 studio albums -- including the group’s debut album “Please Please Me” released in 1963 and “Let It Be” released in 1970 after their breakup -- in addition to four compilation albums, including “1” released in 2000, will be available on the streaming services.

The Beatles’ songs were released only in LP and CD formats until they finally became available on the iTunes Store in 2010, seven years after the music service began.

Starting Dec. 24, 2015, Universal Music and Apple Records, which hold the copyrights to Beatles songs, finally decided to make them available on international music streaming services including Apple Music and Spotify.

Korea, however, was excluded, as negotiations were pending on several matters, including the distribution of royalties.By Jung Eun-jin (jej2403@heraldcorp.com)
