One of the oldest and best-known bands in the British Army, the Band of the Coldstream Guards, visited Korea over the weekend, sounding Britain’s forceful and disciplined military tunes in front of the public.
The band performed and paraded along the Yonsei Street in Sinchon, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Lotte World Tower in Jamsil in Seoul from Thursday to Sunday.
Part of a national campaign to promote the United Kingdom’s culture and industries, the program, titled, “Great Festival Britain,” has toured around 11 countries in the world, including Korea.
The band performed and paraded along the Yonsei Street in Sinchon, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Lotte World Tower in Jamsil in Seoul from Thursday to Sunday.

On the Korean side, traditional dance troupes, b-boying teams, idol groups and buskers performed alongside the band and 20 British companies.
Officially formed in 1785, the band has the longest-serving tradition in the British Army, with officers providing music during the guard change. The ceremony occurs daily at 11:30 a.m. outside the Buckingham Palace in the summer.
