The House of Sharing International Outreach Team invites visitors to the House of Sharing on Saturday.

The tour is an opportunity to learn more about the history and stories of the former “comfort women,” who were forced into sexual slavery during World War II by the Japanese military.

The number of women involved is still unknown, but it is believed to be about 200,000, most of whom were Korean or Chinese.

Today, seven surviving women live at the House of Sharing, located just southeast of Seoul.

The English-language guided tour is hosted by volunteers, who also offer translation services during conversations with the elderly residents, which will take place at the end of the tour depending on the women’s health.

Participants will meet with the International Outreach Team at noon at Exit 1 of Gangbyeon Station, line 2, where they will take a private bus to the home.

To register for the tour, an email is required in advance to confirm your visit.

The tour costs 5,000 won for adults and 3,000 won for children, and is free for seniors and visitors with disabilities, but another 10,000 won in cash is needed to take the private bus to and from the House of Sharing.
