An association of spouses of foreign envoys posted here showcased its unique perspectives of South Korea in a special art exhibition at Raemian Gallery in Seoul through Dec. 1.

Sixteen spouses of foreign ambassadors in South Korea shared with the Korean public a unique mix of their perceptions of South Korea and their individual artistic expressions. Organized by the Association of Spouses of Ambassadors in Korea, the exhibition is free and open to the public.

“The synthesis of their own cultural and professional backgrounds with their varied experiences of life in Korea have generated beautiful, singular objects showing the creativity and ingenuity of the amateur artists,” said Maria Ligaya Fujita, the wife of Brazilian Ambassador to South Korea Edmundo Fujita, in a written statement.

The exhibition features works of spouses of envoys representing countries around the world, including Belgium, the United States, Italy, Colombia and Turkey.

“Images of Korea are registered in unique photographs and paintings demonstrating their creators’ admiration of its peoples, culture, nature, city lights, changing seasons,” Fujita said. “As cultural ambassadors, they wish to communicate with the world through their own individual way.”

He added that the exhibition also conveyed the message that life in another country, as confirmed by their experience in South Korea, contributes to one’s personal development.
