A Korean man was arrested after hiring a group of gangsters to beat up his wayward nephew, Jeju police said Thursday.

The man, 43, took the drastic measure after his nephew ran away from home and did not show up at school for several days. He hired the gangsters to give his 16-year-old nephew a beating.

On March 15, the gangsters took the delinquent teenager to a public cemetery located in western Jeju and delivered the physical punishment, using a baseball bat, before sending him back to his house.

The boy ran away again and reported the violence to the police. Five gang members were also arrested.

The uncle reportedly has been the legal guardian of the boy since he was two.
