The global star Psy received the “New Media” trophy for his worldwide viral smash hit “Gangnam Style” at the 40th American Music Awards held Sunday in Los Angeles.
Psy was awarded with the trophy at the red carpet preshow at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles. He uploaded a comment on his Twitter page where he expressed his excitement about receiving the trophy from the former ‘N Sync pop star Lance Bass, who was one of the hosts of the AMA red carpet preshow event.
Some of the big-name winners at the AMAs included Justin Bieber, who received the award for favorite pop/rock male artist, Taylor Swift who snatched the favorite female country artist award and Nicki Minaj, who won the prize for favorite rap/hip-hop album of the year.
Last month Psy performed at the American MTV Video Music Awards show and won the Best Video Award at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards in Frankfurt, Germany.
Psy is also scheduled to attend the 2013 People’s Choice Awards in January and the Grammy Awards the following month.
