Florida crew lands 683-pound swordfish

A mammoth swordfish has been caught off the Florida Keys.

Captain Billy Rabito Jr. presided over the catch of a 683-pound swordfish Tuesday afternoon. He was fishing on the Mystique, owned by Katherine MacMillan, 30 miles south of Marathon. The fish was caught on 80-pound-test line, spooled on an electric sportfishing reel. Mate Mike Driskell manned the reel.

It was the second swordfish more than 500 pounds caught off the Keys within 10 days and is believed to be the largest ever caught in the region, experts said.

On March 25, Caribsea Captain Kenny Spaulding led angler Fred Beshara to a 520-pound swordfish off Islamorada.

The fish can’t qualify for either a Florida or International Game Fish Association record because it was caught on an electric reel. (AP)

무게 220kg (500파운드)가 넘는 황새치가 잡힌 것은 근래 10일 안에 이번이 두 번째이며 그 지역에서 잡힌 물고기중에 가장 큰 것으로 보인다고 전문가들이 설명했다.

그러나 낚시에 전선릴을 사용했기 때문에 플로리다주나 국제 낚시위원회에 공식적인 기록에는 오르지 못하게 됐다.
