A member of the nomination review committee for the ruling Grand National Party voluntary quit Thursday, party officials said, after being under fire for her past political activities.

The GNP's emergency council on Tuesday announced a list of 11 members of the nomination review committee, composed of eight outside members and three incumbents.

The committee is in charge of recommending and selecting candidates for the parliamentary elections in April.

Just one day after the announcement, Jin Young-ah, the head of a mother's association, offered to resign after some media took issue with her political activities and accused her of lying about her educational background.

While the GNP committee vowed to pick competitive contenders through a fair process, her resignation is likely to draw criticism over the selection process for nomination committee members. (Yonhap News)
