The Daegu Metropolitan City said yesterday that plans are underway to address the accommodation dining needs of foreign visitors during the IAAF World Championships 2011.

The city government said it will be cooperating with local administrative governments to provide the dining needs that the smaller motels may have trouble meeting during such a major international event. In addition to seeking the cooperation of local eateries, Daegu Metropolitan City has also designated hospitals to provide emergency treatment to foreigners in the evening, if needed.

Bakeries, fast-food joints and convenience stores near the accommodation sites will also be cooperating to remove any inconveniences to local and foreign tourists, the Daegu government said.

“We will be printing about 600 guidebooks on dining venues and accommodations by the end of July; these booklets will be distributed to the general accommodation sites and to the local administrative government facilities,” a Daegu Metropolitan City official said. “We will do our utmost to ensure a pleasant stay for all those who visit Daegu.”

The plan to ensure a convenient dining experience during the world event also includes an agreement sealed last month with Lotteria, the homegrown fast-food chain, to provide a breakfast delivery service.
