Going to a beach during summer vacation is almost a must, but there are a lot of things to pack for a perfect day on the beach. You may need beach towels, cool drinks and fruits in an ice box, plus books, perhaps toys for children, and maybe even nail care kits.

Lotte Hotel Jeju said it has opened a private beach lounge on Jungmun Saekdal Beach, a 10-minute walk from the hotel, consisting of a book caf, a foot spa, a nail care zone and a tanning zone.

The book caf offers a variety of books such as self-help, travel, children’s books and magazines. The foot spa will help ease fatigue.

Manicures and pedicures will be available at the nail care zone. At the tanning zone, a sun bed or a hammock is offered.

The private beach lounge is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., exclusive and complimentary for those who stay at Lotte Hotel Jeju.

Cold mineral water and summer refreshments, such as watermelon punch, are also available at the lounge.

You can reach Jungmun Beach following the 10-minute pathway near Pungcha Lounge in the hotel garden. For details, call Lotte Hotel Jeju at 1577-0360.

The Shilla Jeju also offers a private beach house near Jungmun Beach. Offered free of charge to those staying at the hotel, the beach house offers mineral water bottles, shower facilities, toys for children, sun beds, hammocks, TV and ceiling fans. For reservations, call (064) 735-5106.

Jungmun Beach, located in Seogwipo, has a very fine sandy shore. The white sand beach is 560 meters long and the water has an average depth of 1.2 meters. Different shades of black, red and grey are beautifully mixed into the white sand of the beach.

A sea cave called Haesikgul Cave is situated to the right. This area is often used for TV commercials and the water is good for windsurfing and other water sports.

In Seogwipo, a visit to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, one of the three famous waterfalls of Jeju, is recommended.

If you want to rent a car and enjoy the coastal road of the island, Yongdam-Iho Coastal Road is recommended as it is the closest to Jeju City. Lined with romantic cafs, it is one of the most popular dating spots for both locals and tourists. The road brightens with glowing lights after sunset. The Iho Beach, which was recently renovated, offers diverse foods as well. A horse-shaped lighthouse is another tourist attraction.
