The government, which has strengthened internet-related regulations, may go after the online game industry.
According to industry sources, new regulations including cutting off children`s access to games at night and warnings against game addiction were proposed at a meeting among concerned government agencies, including the Korea Communications Commission and the Ministry of Cultures, Sports and Tourism yesterday. Other proposals include allowing parents to request that service providers limit their children`s access to games.
Although the proposals have yet to be approved, the online game industry is voicing concerns that the measures could lead to a contraction of the market.
