Samsung SDS is seeking to become Asia's first cloud provider to offer Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin GPUs in March 2027, accelerating its push into AI infrastructure as demand for computing power surges.
CEO Lee Joon-hee unveiled the plan Thursday during the company's third-quarter earnings call, outlining a phased expansion of its GPU-as-a-service business, starting with Nvidia's B300 chips later this year.
"Following our selection by the Ministry of Science and ICT to build and operate GPU infrastructure, we will begin offering B300 GPUaaS at the west wing of our Dongtan data center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, by the end of this year," Lee said.
The company is also preparing to bridge a potential computing capacity gap before the national AI computing center in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, opens in 2028.
"We are preparing to offer an interim service in April 2027 using part of the west wing of our Dongtan data center to meet surging demand for AI computing before the main center begins operations," Lee said.
Samsung SDS aims to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure capacity to more than 800 megawatts by 2031 through three business models: direct investment, equity participation and the design, construction and operation of customer data centers, known as the design-build-operate model.
The company is also stepping up its cybersecurity business as a series of high-profile breaches drives demand for stronger corporate defenses.
Its managed security services combine AI-powered analysis with expert oversight, covering vulnerability detection, remediation and follow-up verification.
Samsung SDS has joined OpenAI's daybreak partner program as a pilot partner, alongside Google's fairwind program and Anthropic's cyber verification program.
The company is targeting more than 1 trillion won ($748 million) in operating profit next year, banking on growth in its AI infrastructure and other businesses.
In the third quarter, revenue rose 11.2 percent on-year to 3.77 trillion won, while operating profit increased 3.7 percent to 241 billion won.
