One-day skating classes for all levels
Ice Works, a large skating facility on the fourth floor of the E-Mart Yeoksam branch near Hanti Station in Seoul, offers one-day classes to those interested in trying ice skating. The venue spans approximately 5,000 square meters and boasts the largest ice rink in Gangnam. Ice Works offers a variety of activities on its four separate rinks, including figure skating, ice hockey, short-track speed skating and speed skating lessons.
The one-day figure skating class teaches participants basic techniques, such as following pre-drawn lines and practicing curves on the ice. Instructors provide individual feedback and correction in small groups, with no more than four students per coach. Skates can be rented on-site, and lockers are available for personal belongings. Due to the rental skates' fit, participants are advised to wear thick, long socks to prevent skin irritation.
Safety is a priority so helmets and gloves are required during all sessions. The cost of a one-day class is 45,000 won ($30.93). Ice Works operates daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, and visitors can enjoy two hours of free parking.

Winter thrills in Seoul‘s financial hub
When winter settles over Seoul, an unexpected adventure pops up in the heart of the city's financial district: What serves as a swimming pool in summer transforms into a snowy sledding playground, set against a backdrop of gleaming skyscrapers and the National Assembly building.
The 80-meter slope might look tame at first glance, but don't let its modest size fool you. The rubber tubes zip down at lightning speeds, sending hats flying and riders squealing. For extra fun, link tubes with friends or family to enjoy a wild ride down together. Children under six can practice on a shorter slope nearby.
Beyond sledding, the park bustles with other winter activities. Try your hand at smelt fishing (4,000 won extra), with the option to have your catch fried up on the spot. You can even try the famous Dalgona candy challenge, made popular by "Squid Game," in a cozy indoor tent.
After the outdoor fun, make sure to warm up with classic Korean street food at the snack tent -- nothing beats a steaming bowl of fish cake soup after a day in the snow.
The slopes welcome visitors daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, through Feb. 16. Find this winter playground at Yeouido Outdoor Swimming Pool, just a 10-minute walk from National Assembly Station on Subway Line No. 9.
