GS Retail together with Konkuk Milk announced Thursday the launch of YouUs Butter Milk, a honey-butter-milk inspired by the potato chips that stormed Korea with its honey-butter flavor last year.

The 300-milliliter milk will sell for 1,000 won (86 centers). It will be available at GS25 convenience stores from Friday and later at GS Super Markets as well. 

GS Retail described the milk as a “dessert latte” that blends the rich taste of French gourmet butter with the aroma of fresh milk.

The butter used is an authentic Normandy butter, produced with 12 hours’ fermentation. A pinch of French salt was added to draw out further sweetness.

GS Retail said this was a differentiation process from the current saturated market of fruit-flavored processed milk.

Processed milk sales accounted for 30.8 percent of GS25’s dairy products in 2014, 32.9 percent in 2015 and 35.3 percent in the term between January and May this year.

Products with the word “butter” in their name increased in sales by 89.7 percent in 2014 and 119.8 percent in 2015.
