Seoul High Court on Thursday upheld the original 18-month sentence, without probation, for a former school principal who molested his pupils over two years.

The appeals court reiterated that the accused, 57, had abused his position at a middle school in Incheon between August 2013 and July 2015, where he should have offered protection and guidance to students but instead made improper physical contact.

The accused will also receive an 80-hour education program for sex offenders.

The man’s wrongdoings were exposed as a victim complained on social media the principal had touched the students’ buttocks.

A police investigation identified a total of nine victims.

In the original trial, the principal was found guilty on 24 counts of molestation. The appeals court, however, ruled one victim’s testimony regarding the accused’s kiss on her lips was unconvincing, lowering the number of counts to 23.
