Prosecutors on Friday raided the headquarters of LG Electronics Inc. as part of their ongoing investigation into allegations that some of its executives vandalized washing machines of rival Samsung Electronics Co. at German shops earlier this year.

A team of prosecutors and investigators of the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office probing the case said they secured relevant documents and computer hard disks from the office in central Seoul.

They also combed through LG Electronics' home appliance factory in the southeastern city of Changwon.

In September, Samsung asked the prosecution to investigate senior executives of LG, including Jo Seong-jin, president of the home appliance division.

Samsung claims Jo deliberately damaged several of its premium washing machines on display at retail chain shops ahead of a global electronics show in the German capital of Berlin.

Jo, who has already been notified by the prosecution to appear for questioning, said he will cooperate with the probe after the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January ends.

Jo has been banned from leaving the country amid the investigation, according to sources at the prosecution office. (Yonhap)
