The nation’s English and Chinese radio station tbs eFM (101.3Mhz) will hold an annual concert on Nov.25 to mark its six anniversary.

This year’s concert theme will be Gugak ― traditional Korean music ― performed under the title of ‘The 6th Movement - in Traditional Harmony.’

The concert is scheduled to be held at the Kepco Art Center located near Yangjae Station at 7:30 p.m., tbs eFM said. Featured performers include Pansori Master Singer Ahn Suk Seon who owns both the Gayageum Sanjo and Byung-Chang that are classified as intangible cultural property.

Also on the roster is Nam Sang-il, a Pansori singer nicknamed as the ‘PSY of Gugak’ for his witty speech and gestures, and Lee Sul-gi who won a Presidential Award in The National Gugak Competition.

In addition, Lim Dong-chang who is known for combining traditional elements of Korean Music with modern elements will perform with Kim Young-gil with the Ajaeng, a traditional string instrument. Lim created the ‘Huhteun Garak’ meaning ‘free music’ and invented a new instrument ‘Piatgo’― a cross between a piano and a Gayageum.

Other performers include the fusion band ‘Luna and The Time Travelers,’ and The CheongBae Traditional Art Troupe who will showcase a combination of Korea’s traditional rhythm, dance and instruments.

The event will be hosted by Alex Jensen, the host of tbs eFM’s ‘This Morning,’ and Punita Bajaj, one of the hosts of ‘The Wake Up Crew,’ which began its first broadcast just this fall. Zhang Yuan and Mu Zhen who are the co-hosts of the station’s Chinese program ‘Shouer Shenghuo Jiayouzhan,’ will take part in a special performance at this concert.

Admission is free, and the concert will be broadcast on tbs eFM at 12:10 p.m., Dec. 1 and also at 2 p.m., Dec. 6 on tbs TV.
