A man was put behind bars for raping an intoxicated female coworker and impregnating her, the Suwon court said Sunday.

A 24-year-old man surnamed Lee was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for rape of his 25-year-old colleague. He was also ordered to complete 40 hours of counseling and treatment, and his personal information will be made available online for three years.

Lee was accused of taking the victim to a motel near Osan Station last year and raping her, under the pretenses that he would give her a ride home. The victim became pregnant after the attack and was forced to have an abortion.

Lee claimed that the intercourse was consensual, but the court decided otherwise, saying that the defendant, who is 178 cm in height, could have easily used forced on the 156 cm victim.

“The defendant denied the allegations and made no effort to amend the damages after raping his colleague and causing her to have an abortion,” the court said, explaining the reason for its decision. The court also took into account the fact that Lee had no prior record of sexual crimes.
