Akdong Musician, the winner of last year’s popular SBS singing audition program “K-pop Star 2,” will make its official debut next week.

The young duo of singer-songwriter Lee Chan-hyuk and his sister and vocalist Lee Soo-hyun will release the album online on April 7, its agency, YG Entertainment, announced on its official blog Monday.

Akdong Musician is scheduled to showcase these new songs on the upcoming episode of “K-pop Star 3” on April 6, the eve of its official release.

Every song recorded on the 11-track studio album was written, composed and produced by Lee Chan-hyuk, a notable accomplishment for a young rookie artist.

The album will also uniquely feature three title tracks: “Melted,” chosen by Akdong Musician; “200%,” chosen by YG CEO Yang Hyun-suk; and a third to be selected by fans after the album’s release.

“It has never been more difficult to pick out the title track for Akdong Musician’s first album,” said Yang. “After much consternation, we decided to take a special approach and select three title tracks: one chosen by Akdong Musician, the other by YG and the last by fans. The song that enjoys the highest popularity on local music charts during the week immediately after the album’s release will become the duo’s third title track.”

“Melted” is a slow piece that compares adults to ice and reveals the duo’s new color and a wider range of emotions. “200%” is a medium-tempo song that showcases Akdong Musician’s signature sound and style, according to YG.

The music videos for the three title tracks will also be unveiled one by one ― “200%” on April 7 alongside the album’s release, “Melted” on April 14 and the third, fan-selected title track at the end of April.

Akdong Musician rose to prominence last year by winning SBS’s “K-pop Star 2,” a singing battle program in which contestants are judged by representatives from the nation’s top three music agencies ― SM, YG and JYP Entertainment.

In the show, the duo impressed both the audience and judges with its unique singing style and self-composed songs including “Don’t Cross Your Legs,” “A Foreigner’s Confession” and “It Is Ramen.”

Akdong Musician is currently under contract to YG Entertainment, home to many high-profile K-pop acts including 2NE1, Psy, Big Bang and “K-pop Star 1” semi-finalist Lee Hi.
