The Financial Supervisory Service, the country’s financial regulator, said Sunday that it would co-host a job fair with 17 Korean financial companies in Sept. 28-29 in New York.

Dubbed “2013 Fn Hub Korea Finance Job Fair in New York,” the event will offer job consultations and interview potential employees with degrees or experience in finance graduated from U.S. and Canadian universities.

Employers plan to recruit those with knowledge and expertise in investment banking, risk management, financial derivatives and international law. They will also be looking for professionals in information technology, mathematics and statistics.

“We hope to see a lot of excellent talent from overseas who will contribute to the development of the Korean financial industry, and boost the national economic growth engine,” the FSS said, noting that this upcoming fair would be the largest.

The event is the fourth Fn Hub Korea Finance Job Fair, the first of which was held in 2010, two years before the FSS launched a separate sub-unit to support Korean financial companies’ overseas expansion and foreign financial firms’ operation here.

Five banks ― KB Kookmin Bank, Korea Development Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank and Hana Financial Group ― and three insurance firms ― Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and Seoul Guarantee Insurance ― will co-host the fair.

Seven financial brokerages ― KDB Daewoo Securities, Mirae Asset Global Investments, Samsung Securities, Samsung Futures, Woori Investment & Securities, Korea Investment & Securities, Hyundai Securities ― will also participate. Samsung Card and E-Land Group seek to hire those with accounting skills.

The participating companies recruited between 61 to 73 applicants through each of the three job fairs organized by the regulator.

More details of the event is available at www.fnhubkorea.kr/jobfair from Aug 16. Applicants can pre-register for job interviews from Aug. 19 through Aug. 30.
