Samsung Electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee held a meeting with Hungarian President Pal Schmitt, who is also an International Olympic Committee member, in Seoul Wednesday evening.

The dinner meeting came about eight months after Lee met with Schmitt at the IOC conference held in South Africa. Schmitt accepted the invitation while making a visit to Korea to join the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, which successfully wrapped up its two-day schedule on Tuesday.

Lee Jae-yong, president of Samsung Electronics and son of chairman Lee, also joined the dinner along with other Samsung executives, the company said in a statement.

“Chairman Lee expressed gratitude to President Schmitt for the Hungarian people and government’s support for Samsung, which made visible progress after entering the market about 20 years ago,” Samsung said.

Samsung runs production lines for its electronics and other business affiliates in the Hungarian market.

Schmitt discussed ways to promote sports in general and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games in particular with chairman Lee.

The meeting was also a venue in which Lee showed his appreciation for Schmitt’s support in helping the Korean alpine city to beat other competitors in an IOC vote in July last year.

Ahead of the meeting with Lee, Schmitt visited Samsung’s digital city complex in Suwon and LEEUM, Samsung Museum of Art, in Seoul.
