LG Energy Solution said Tuueday it had signed a nonbinding agreement with Israeli renewable energy developer Energix to supply 2 gigawatt-hours of energy storage systems across Europe and North America over the next two years.
Under the memorandum of understanding, signed at LG Energy Solution's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, the company plans to supply 1.5 GWh of ESS capacity in Europe and 0.5 GWh in North America within 24 months. The partners will also explore expanding the total supply volume to 4.5 GWh.
The cooperation will initially focus on Energix's Jonava project in Lithuania, a hybrid renewable energy development that includes approximately 320 megawatt-hours of energy storage capacity. The project is under development, with commercial operations targeted for 2027.
The agreement builds on a partnership established in 2024, when LG Energy Solution supplied ESS products for Energix's Nowe Czarnowo project in Poland.
Israel-based Energix develops and operates solar, wind and energy storage projects across Europe, North America and Israel, with plans to build a global portfolio exceeding 8 gigawatts.
For LG Energy Solution, the deal strengthens its foothold in Europe's growing ESS market while expanding its North American business, where demand is being driven by AI data centers, power grids and renewable energy projects.
"This agreement will strengthen our long-term partnership with LG Energy Solution," Energix CEO Asa Levinger said, expressing interest in deploying energy storage solutions across the company's project pipeline.
Kang Chang-beom, executive vice president and head of LG Energy Solution's ESS Battery Business Division, said the partnership would broaden business opportunities in Europe and North America and strengthen its global customer base.
"We will accelerate the growth of our global ESS business through differentiated technology and local manufacturing capabilities," Kang said.
