Seoul rises to 7th in global financial hub ranking
서울, 세계 금융 중심지 순위 7위로 상승
Seoul ranked seventh among 139 cities in the latest Global Financial Centers Index, up one spot from March, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said.
서울이 최신 글로벌 금융센터 지수(GFCI)에서 139개 도시 가운데 7위를 기록했다고 서울시가 밝혔다. 이는 지난 3월보다 한 계단 상승한 순위다.
The capital also ranked seventh in fintech, its highest-ever position in the category, placing Seoul among the world’s top seven financial centers in both overall and digital finance competitiveness.
서울은 핀테크 부문에서도 역대 최고 순위인 7위에 올랐다. 이로써 서울은 종합 경쟁력과 디지털 금융 경쟁력 모두에서 세계 7대 금융 중심지에 포함됐다.
The GFCI, released by London-based consultancy Z/Yen Group, assesses financial centers based on business environment, human capital, infrastructure, financial-sector development and reputation. It combines quantitative data with surveys of financial professionals worldwide and is published twice a year.
런던에 본사를 둔 컨설팅 기업 Z/Yen 그룹이 발표하는 GFCI는 기업 환경, 인적 자본, 인프라, 금융 부문 발전 수준, 평판 등을 기준으로 금융 중심지의 경쟁력을 평가한다. 정량적 데이터와 전 세계 금융 전문가 대상 설문조사 결과를 종합하며, 연 2회 발표된다.
Seoul’s overall ranking has steadily improved, rising from 53rd in 2009 to 12th in 2022. It remained around 10th or 11th through 2025 before climbing to eighth in March and seventh in the latest assessment.
서울의 종합 순위는 꾸준히 상승해 왔다. 2009년 53위에서 2022년 12위로 올랐으며, 2025년까지 10~11위권을 유지했다. 이후 올해 3월 8위로 상승한 데 이어 최신 평가에서 7위를 기록했다.
New York topped the latest ranking, followed by London and Hong Kong.
최신 순위에서는 뉴욕이 1위를 차지했으며, 런던과 홍콩이 뒤를 이었다.
