A fire was reported at Seoul’s Coex convention center Friday morning, prompting emergency evacuations amid ongoing exhibitions, including the 2025 World IT Show.
According to fire authorities, the report was received at approximately 11:06 a.m. It indicated that smoke, presumed to be from a fire, had emerged from a restaurant inside Coex, located in Gangnam-gu.
Several visitors inside the venue were seen evacuating the premises as a precaution.
As of noon, there are no reports of casualties or visible flames. Emergency crews have been dispatched to assess the situation and secure the area.
The Coex complex was hosting major events, including the international tech exhibition World IT Show 2025, at the time of the incident. Further details on the cause of the smoke and the extent of any damage are to be updated.
