A man in his 30s claiming to be the messiah is under police investigation for stabbing his father, police said Wednesday.
Officials at the Ilsan Dongbu Police Station said the suspect is under investigation for attempted patricide. He is accused of stabbing his father, in his 60s, in their apartment in Goyang in Gyeonggi Province at around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim sustained injuries to his neck and back, and is receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
Police said the suspect had been suffering from delusions as well as depression for the past 10 years.
They plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident and request the court issue an arrest warrant.
