Michael Sandel, the well-known author of the best-selling book “Justice,” became an honorary citizen of Seoul on Friday.

Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon awarded honorary citizenship to Sandel following a special lecture to city government workers.

The American political philosopher is visiting Seoul this week to give lectures and meet with lawmakers as well as government officials.

Sandel is famous for his “Justice” course at Harvard University, and the translated version of his book became a hit in South Korea.

Sandel is one of several foreigners to have been given honorary citizenship of the metropolis.

Previously, Brian Ernest Orser, the Canadian coach of South Korean figure skating queen Kim Yu-na, and former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Sung Kim, were granted honorary citizenship of the capital. (Yonhap)
